Our camps are geared to provide a free range therapeutically inclined farm experience for children aged 8 and up. They are equal parts farm, horse, nature, and maker camp and are Waldorf inspired. What sets our camps apart from other horse camps is almost too numerous to name. Our campers learn some riding and some about horses but there is so much more to it than that as we focus on meaningful connection with the horses (and other animals), the slow pace, and incorporation of therapeutic and art activities. For example, there is much to learn about boundaries and relationships from how we handle our horses and there is much to learn about ourselves from what they show us when we are with them. Learning to control and command a giant animal using only one’s voice and energetic stance is empowering. Campers overcome anxiety and give up control when they climb up on a horse and allow one to move their body for them. Sometimes this release of control takes an entire week’s session to master and we teach them breathing and mindfulness in the process.

Children at our camps are given some freedom and some monitored time to slow down and create their own fun in nature, which is often rare in their lives. During intentionally structured times they complete chores, swim, have snack and lunch, and do art. Through chores and farm work, children learn the value of hard work and kindness and can give back to the animals who give us so much. During art time with our visiting artists, campers get an opportunity to create something meaningful, beautiful, and natural to take home during their time at Sadie Grove Farm. We consider making with one’s hands and working with natural materials to be therapeutic and grounding activities in and of themselves and important piece of our camp’s structure.

Camps are drop off and each camp day is from 9-3.

Our 2024 Spring Break Camp is March 25-29.

This is our Wool: Start to Finish camp. Along with all of our usual horse activities (horseback riding and horsemanship), campers also watch a sheep shearing demo, skirt and process wool, try their hand at spinning, and learn weaving and needle felting.

This camp session is priced at $525 with a $30 discount for return campers and a $50 sibling discount. Some limited financial aid is available on an as-needed basis.
